In
the olde days (last year) it would have been SRO in the firehouse community room,
but the semi annual Homeowners meeting was held in the bay where the trucks are
and even then space was limited.
Marsha
remaining as President, Gary L the new vice president and Danielle our new treasurer
took their seats
(Later
on an odd motion to add an additional VP was discussed and approved and a vote
is scheduled for the Fall).
Our
treasurer Chris R was unable to attend.
People
lined up for the acquisition of notes, budget report, etc, and a last chance to
correct any personal information before a new directory is prepared. There was
some difference of opinion between those who prefer the old-fashioned hard copy,
and the more modern way of having the info in our phones.
Almost
everyone reading last year’s notes and this year’s agenda
Fire
Chef Dom reminded us that our smoke alarms usually do not survive the winter
temperatures and need to be replaced. Also the importance of having each number
visibly displayed to help firemen, ambulances and police find their destination
quickly. The KFD will provide numbers or help to expedite this.
Sam
delivered an uncharacteristically emotional recounting the damage a contractor
from the mainland did to Kismet property during the winter. Sam who has done
such a magnificent job keeping Kismet beautiful and clean during the season was
deeply offended and vowed not to keep silent any longer. This is after all, his
home.
At
one point his voice cracked but he quickly blamed that on the KFD installation dinner
the previous night.
But
then, on a very much lighter note, he described the Walk of Fame night
featuring members of the community caught on film, encouraging all Kismetics to
dress up and participate in this unusual FREE hopefully glamorous event. June
23rd – a major new event
June 23 Kismet’s 15 Minutes of Fame and first red carpet event open

The
meeting continued with a spirited debate over proxy votes. Those who,
as
in the past, said if you are not here you cannot vote vs. those who cannot be
here in the Fall (many have children whose school year begins beforehand) and
still want to exercise their voting rights. Also a discussion as to whether our
longtime boaters and renters should have a say in the community they have
supported these many years.
Results from this meeting will be published in a timely manner I
am sure.
