Nothing will stop us!!!
Despite a steady drizzle, the 2nd annual Pine Walk
Block party was a roaring success, with Kismetics dancing into the evening to
the live music of Don and Wiley.
Many houses had themes, with flamingoes, turtles, Finding
Dory, sharks and pirates among the decorations. Food was abundant and
found everywhere, with fresh crabs, baked clams, sliders, hamburgers, hot dogs
and the like available for even the most discerning palates (okay, maybe not
real discerning palates). There was a tattoo station (temporary, of
course…..), KanJam touraments, giant Beer Pong tournaments, Washer tournaments,
jello served in small cups (for some reason) topped with whipped cream, kegs of
beer and a fine assortment of cocktails!
Eileen Rafferty did an amazing job with the artwork for the
t-shirts (as she did last year) – they were a hot commodity and sold out early.
Congratulations to Pine Walkers, Brian and Leslie, who won the
50-50.
Many, many houses on Pine Walk made contributions to make the
night a success. The left over proceeds were applied to the beautiful
Weber Grill that was donated by Pine Walk to the Pirate’s Festival to benefit
the Southside Hospital ER.
Special thanks go out to (but not limited to) Carrie and Tim,
Linda and Russ, Eileen/Kara/Emma, Wendy and Jeff, Sandy and Bill.
A few of the houses involved include Shakedown Street, Paddy
Shack, Fruits de Mer, Rut’s Hut, Lawn House, Yellow House, White House,
Caroline and George, John and Liz, Billy and Nancy, Harry and Phyllis, Joe and
Dana, Dominick and Kelly, and a whole bunch more.
