Kismet’s Annual Arthur Lem Memorial Snapper Tournament

                               Photos & text by Bradlee White

 It was a great day for a fishing tournament.  Although neither Rose nor Warren Lem, sponsors of the Arthur Lem Memorial Snapper Tournament, were able to attend, the snappers themselves came from miles around.  The children had one of the most exciting fishing adventures in years.

Co-sponsored by the Kismet Market (sodas), the Kismet Inn (hot dogs), Surf's Out (bottles of water), the Pizza Shack (ice cream) and Willy K's Bait & Tackle (bait), the event is a long-standing tradition in Kismet.  Buddy Schumacher weighed each fish brought in and admonished the kids to "put them back in the water gently so they don't get a headache."  Jeannine Crawson and her oldest son, Tyler, handled registration and kept track of the weight of each fish.

In the end, there were trophies for the biggest fish in each age category:

Boys: 6 and under, Andrew;
         7-8, Kyle;
         9-10,  Nicholas;
        11-12, Ryan.

Girls:
         Under 6, Teagan;
         7-9 Lily,
         9-10, Casey
       11-12 Elizabeth W.

There were also trophies for the girl who caught the most fish, Haley (5) and the boy was Glenn (9).
